The next direction of the “Green Wave” system has been launched in Tashkent

Another direction of the “Green Wave” system, which is being gradually introduced on the capital’s streets, has been launched in both directions on Shota Rustaveli Street — between the South Station and the Grand Mir Hotel.

📊 According to the test results:

📍 South Station → Grand Mir Hotel direction 🟢 travel time decreased from 11 minutes 30 seconds to 8 minutes; 🟢 the number of stops at red lights decreased from 6 to 2.

📍 Grand Mir Hotel → South Station direction 🟢 travel time decreased from 12 minutes to 8 minutes 30 seconds; 🟢 the number of stops at red lights in this direction also decreased from 6 to 2.

📌 As a result, the time spent on the road in both directions decreased by 3 minutes 30 seconds, or approximately 30 percent.

🚦 How does the “Green Wave” work?

This system does not mean that the green signal turns on at all traffic lights at the same time. Taking into account the time required for a car to cover a certain section of the road, the switching on of the green signal at each subsequent traffic light is adjusted based on a set time interval.

If a driver enters the route on a green signal, moves at a steady pace while observing the established speed limit, and the traffic flow is free, they will reach the next traffic light when the green signal is on.

• start moving on a green signal; • observe the established speed limit; • avoid sudden acceleration and braking; • maintain a safe following distance; • strictly follow traffic light signals and yield to pedestrians.

📈 The “Green Wave” has been introduced not to increase speed, but to ensure the movement of vehicles in a unified and safe rhythm. The system serves to reduce unnecessary stops in front of traffic lights, queues at intersections, and waiting time, as well as to reduce fuel consumption and the volume of harmful emissions.
